OK, so I’m laying it on a bit thick calling it a snooze-fest. What I should call this game is a “lacrosse fan’s game” because if you’re not already a lacrosse fan, this game would have put you to sleep. Alas, Duke takes a page out of Notre Dame’s book and wins a low-scoring affair, 8-2 in South Bend.

The story of the day for Notre Dame was where were Wynne and Garnsey? Mikey Wynne was held to a single goal on the game and Ryder Garnsey was held scoreless as Duke’s defense put the clamps down on the high scoring Notre Dame duo.

Justin Guterding was good for 2 goals on the day, Joey Manown was the only other multi-point scorer for Duke, going for a goal and an assist. Danny Fowler wasn’t tested often, but came up with 4 saves against the 6 shots he faced and that proved good enough to help Duke keep the Fighting Irish off the board.

Duke improves to 9-2 overall, 2-1 in the ACC. Notre Dame drops to 5-4 on the season and 1-2 in ACC play.
