The Duke Blue Devils travelled to Charlotsville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in Klöckner Stadium and came away with a big 18-13 ACC victory against their long-time rival.
Duke got it going early jumping out to a 5-1 lead on goals by five different players, and Justin Guterding scored the first goal of that run, and assisted the fifth goal by Sean Lowrie with 6:14 left in the first quarter.
The two teams would exchange goals from there and we would see Duke take an 11-6 lead into the half after Dox Aitken scored an unassisted goal with 2:37 left in the half.
Virginia would storm back in the second half and would get the score as close as 11-12 on a Matt Moore goal with 2:49 left in the third, but Duke would cruise from there scoring the games next six goals.
Justin Guterding had a monster day scoring 4 goals with 5 helpers. Teammate Brad Smith also had himself an afternoon going 3 and 3.
Michael Kraus paced Virginia with his own huge outing, matching Guterding point for point going for 4 goals and 5 assists.
