The Syracuse Orange hosted Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome and came away with a big 10-6 win and improve to 5-3 on the season, 3-0 in the ACC.

Syracuse enjoyed great days out of Nate Solomon (2g, 2a), Jamie Trimboli (2g, 1a) and Brendan Bomberry (2g), each putting up 2 goals. Syracuse has enjoyed a pretty balanced attack all season and yesterday was no different as the Orange saw 8 players put up at least one point. Stephen Rehfuss also factored in the scoring with a goal and an assist.

Syracuse went up 3-0 by half-way through the first quarter, only to see Notre Dame battle back and tie it up on a Bryan Costabile goal with 10:56 left in the second.

After exchanging a couple of goals, Syracuse went on a 4 goal run, and extended their lead to 9-5 on a Nate Solomon goal with 7:05 remaining in the fourth.

Big story of the day, Notre Dame went 0-8 when up a man. That is actually crazy considering how badly the Syracuse defense has been at times. To hold ND to NO GOALS on 8 man-up chances proves that Syracuse has handled some of their defensive issues as the season has progressed.

Ryder Garnsey and Mikey Wynne were quiet, Wynn not contributing a single point, and Garnsey being held to an assist. Despite giving up a bunch of goals this season, the Syracuse Defense has played much better of late showing they are able to hold opposing teams top scorers back enough to allow their own offense more chances to get an edge.

Brian Willetts paced ND with 2 goals and Michael Drake, Brendan Collins and Drew Schantz all put up a single goal for ND.
