In the official first week of college lacrosse action, we have Army taking on Virginia after UMass was forced to cancel, we have Richmond hosting Loyola in a top 20 matchup, Air Force on the road at Denver in what already feels like a must win game for Denver and much more.
Connor Shellenberger, Payton Cormier and Charlie Bertrans proved that UVA can win big even without Matt Moore and Dox Aitken. Army is solid, but lost quite a bit of talent from last years roster, so UVA is still a heavy favorite, although never count a service academy out.
Loyola and Richmond should be a dogfight. Olmstead vs Lanchbury. Lindley vs Connell. Lots of great matchups. We have 50/50 scorers and we have pure goal scorers that have barely passed a ball to a teammate. Going to be a great game.
Denver struggled vs Utah, blew a big lead against Duke and then got smacked by North Carolina. This game against Air Force feels like a must win scenario even though in reality it isn’t.
