The Syracuse Orange suffered a 14-10 loss at the hands of Rutgers on Sunday and falls to 3-3 on the season. It was a well fought game by both teams through 3 quarters, but the Scarlet Knights and Jules Heningburg proved to be too much down the stretch for the Orange.

Heningburg finished the game with 6 goals in the win for Rutgers and Syracuse struggled to guard him all day. Max Edelmann had a great day in cage for Rutgers as well making 10 saves on 20 shots (unofficially upon posting this) and greatly changed the momentum of the game in a couple of key situations.

Cuse played a sloppy game from start to finish allowing Rutgers numerous fast break and broken play scoring opportunities that the Scarlet Knights capitalized on all day long. Rutgers offense has proven to be hugely opportunistic all season, and that was very visible today. Syracuse closed the game by allowing Rutgers to score 7 straight goals in the loss.

Brendand Bomberry scored two straight goals late to make the score look more respectable, but the reality is Syracuse got beat up in the final 1/3 of this game.

It gets no easier for Syracuse as they take on Duke next week in Durham.
