The Syracuse Orange took on Hobart Statesmen at the Dome in a weeknight matchup that saw Syracuse walk away with it early enroute to a 11-4 victory and yet another year to enjoy the Kraus-Simmons Trophy.

Syracuse was paced by their attack as Stephen Rehfuss put up 3 goals and 2 assists and line-mate Nate Solomon scored 2 goals and dished 2 helpers. Jamie Trimboli anchored the Cuse midfield with 2 goals and an assist.

Ryan Archer was held to a single goal on the day, proving that Syracuse has done something to bolster their defense. I’d put much of their recent defensive success on Nick Mellen finally getting into the swing of things after missing all of last year with an injury and Dom Madonna was (and has been) excellent in cage for Syracuse making 9 saves on 13 shots faced.

Cuse jumped out to an 8-1 lead before allowing Hobart three straight goals which tightened things up a bit at 8-4. But Syracuse went on to score the last three goals of the game to close things out and the Kraus-Simmons Trophy stays in the Cuse.

Syracuse takes on Cornell next week.
