The Virginia Cavaliers traveled down to Chapel Hill and got their first ever ACC Conference victory over North Carolina by a score of 15-12. The three goal spread implies a closer game than it actually was as Virginia had pretty sold control from about half-way through the 2nd quarter and on.

UNC struck first on a goal by Cam Macri, assisted by Chris Cloutier. Ian Laviano got UVA on the board notting things up at one’s and the score went back and forth through the first quarter, and into the second.

Virginia would take the lead for good on a goal by Mike D’Amario with 11:36 to play in the second, and D’Amario would extend that lead at the 10:22 mark, and UVA would retain a lead through the remainder of the game. D’Amario stuck two pretty sick goals, one lefty behind-the-back as well as a nice back-hand on the crease.

Goals by Matt Moore (2:19 in second) and Michael Kraus (1:37 in second) gave UVA a 9-4 lead going into the half, and UNC wouldn’t get closer than a three goal spread the remainder of the game, with UVA’s largest lead being 15-10.

Michael Kraus was a beast on the day going for 3 goals and 4 assists. Ian Laviano continued his tear with a hatrick. Matt Moore and Dox Aitken chipped in 2 goals.

William Perry paced UNC with 2 goals and 2 assists, and Timmy Kelly scored a goal and dished 3 assists.
